In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus found the disciples sleeping. He said “Watch and pray.” He kept going back and praying again. Be persistent in praying for revival and spiritual awakening! Be persistent. Please read today’s devotional and persistently pray!
Turn Towards Him (by Bob Fielding)
Does God really want a relationship with you?
Reading Isaiah 66:1, you may think that is not possible. God describes Himself as so powerful and immense, it is easy to feel insignificant!
Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.
Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be? Isaiah 66:1
But He continues in verse 2:
…but on this one will I look: On him who is poor and of a contrite spirit, and who trembles at My word. Isaiah 66:2 (NKJV)
God says that if anyone responds to Him His way, he will “look” toward them, show favor to them, or have regard for them! God is willing to turn toward us if we will turn to Him. As you pray for personal revival, seek God for:
- Humility – Ask God to expose pride in your life. James 4:6 promises grace to the humble.
But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” James 4:6
- Brokenness – Confessing his sin to God, David remembered that God does not “despise” broken and contrite hearts (Psalm 51:17)
My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise. Psalm 51:17
- Love for His Word – God blesses those who obey His Word. Jesus said that if we love Him, we will demonstrate it through obedience. (John 14:15)
If you love me, keep my commands. John 14:15
Father, expose pride in my life. Show me what to confess. As I search Your word for truth and guidance, teach me and I will obey. Thank you for your regard for me. Bob Fielding
