Trust Him (by Gail Pucik)

“Where did this man get these things?” they asked.  “What’s this wisdom that has been given him that he even does miracles?  Isn’t this the carpenter?  Isn’t this Mary’s son and the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon?  Aren’t his sisters here with us?”  And they took offense at him. Mark 6:2-3 (NIV)

Jesus’ ministry was in full swing. He had been actively ministering to the masses, and had even raised the dead, calmed a storm, and now He was coming to Nazareth, His hometown.

As Jesus taught, “many were amazed” (vs. 2).

But there was a negative reception – some even criticized Jesus and harshly rejected Him, His message, and His works. Those who should have known Him best actually knew Him least!

Unbelief has that affect on us.

Unbelief becomes a stifling barrier between us and the mighty things Jesus longs to do for us.  The unbelief in Nazareth hindered Him from doing more miracles there.  Jesus left, amazed at their lack of faith.

Father, let me not be so familiar with who I think You are that I miss who You really are.  Let me see Your mighty miracles and know Your living presence!
