40 Day of Prayer for Awakening & Revival – Day 9

Knowing Jesus, His Word, and being intentionally obedient to Him leads us to a keen awareness of those without salvation and a desire to lead them to knowing Christ. The lost will be drawn to Christ through us when WE get revived! Revival starts with God working in His people and spills over into the community.

Become Aware of the Lost (by Reed Dillahunty)

How can anyone develop a keen awareness for the lost? Here are three insights that have helped me

The more I know Jesus, the better I understand who He is and what He desires.

Passionately knowing Him is the beginning of seeing my world through His eyes, especially seeing those who are lost. Do you know Him? Do you sense His heart for the lost?

Studying His word gives a deeper understanding of the heart of God.

…the LORD God, compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in lovingkindness and truth; who keeps lovingkindness for thousands, who forgives iniquity, transgression and sin.  Exodus 34:6-7 (NASB)

You will become more aware of the lost as you grow in your understanding of His heart. Memorize scriptures that describe the heart of God and think about them throughout the day.

Be intentionally obedient in witnessing.

You are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, to declare the praises of Him who has called you out of darkness in to His light. You are called to bear witness; it is the normal activity of a child of God.

Father, give me a heart like yours for lost people. As I grow in You and Your Word, open my eyes and fill me with compassion for people who do not know You.
