40 Days of Prayer for Revival – Day 11

Please pray with me that revival will begin in US. It must start in God’s people. Judgment begins at the house of God. The house of God is our body. Our body is he temple of the Holy Spirit. Pray that we each are the place Our Father starts revival and spiritual awakening. Read this devotional by Tommy Miller and PRAY.

Lord, Begin with Me (by Tommy Miller)

Explaining why so few revivals were occurring in his day,

Charles Finney wrote:

“Now it does appear to me that we who are ministers, instead of looking abroad and searching for the fundamental difficulty beyond and out of ourselves, should see that whatever else may be an occasion of the great falling off and decline in revivals, our own spiritual state is certainly one, if  not the primary and fundamental, reason of this decline.”

I don’t believe much has changed since Finney’s day. At Union Valley Baptist Church (Beebe, AR) where I pastor, we hold two revival services a year. In most meetings we see people saved. but, on a whole, the church is left much the same as it was before.

I have had the pleasure of being part of two revivals that I felt were true movements of God. A year after the meetings, we still saw God changing lives and saving souls.

Both of those meetings were preceded by a time when the membership looked inwardly at their lives through the eyes of God’s word; much time was spent on our knees before Him in prayer. It was a time of deep, serious refection.

In Lamentations 3:40 we read:

Let us search and try our ways, and turn again to the Lord.

If we want to know why we don’t see revival, we don’t have to look much further than our own doorstep.

Father, let revival begin with me!
