Pray that we will be moved and overwhelmed with compassion!
Ask for a Compassionate Heart
(by James Ross)
Our world is filled with hurting people. Everywhere we look there are those whose hearts are broken and lives that are in turmoil. Many are going through storms and have nothing to hold onto as they are tossed by the winds blowing and waves crashing against them. Their problems may be in circumstances, health, family, job or marriage.
Sometimes these are problems of their own making, but they are problems and troubles nonetheless.
When Jesus looked over the multitudes, He saw people in every kind of condition. Yet, Jesus had a heart of compassion.
But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.
Matthew 9:36 (KJV)
During this season of prayer for revival in Arkansas, ask God to give you a heart of compassion for every person with whom you come in contact.
Reach out to those who are lonely, sick or depressed. Minister to those in jails, prisons, hospitals or nursing homes. Give loving direction to those who don’t seem to know right from wrong.
Above all, show Jesus to those who are lost. Let’s love them as He has loved us. Don’t be afraid to reach out and touch people with Jesus’ love.
Lord, give me the heart of Jesus – a heart of real compassion.
