Hang On

With two small water skis, a rope, and a life belt that wasn’t small enough for the skinny little four-year-olds’ body, his Dad sent him swimming toward the middle of the lake.

They had practiced putting on the skis while floating in the water. “Keep your arms straight and knees bent,” echoed over and over from the young man on the lake’s edge as he watched his son swim the length of the ski rope into the lake.

The twenty-four year old Dad wanted his son to ski behind the boat but the kid was frightened of the motor noise and whirling propeller.

His son successfully swam the length of the rope, put on the two small water skis, placed the floating rope between the skis, bent his knees, straitened his arms, and hung on tight to the handle.

Then his dad ran up the bank pulling the rope. The little boy waterskied for 30 feet! His confidence grew. He soon skied behind the boat.

This was a proud day for both me and my Dad. The lessons of overcoming fear and hanging on tight still reverberate in me today!

Are you still overcoming your fears and hanging on tenaciously to that faith by living it out today?

Do you know the heavenly Father who loves you? He sent His Son to die for you. Have you placed your faith in Jesus Christ for salvation? If not, believe and receive Him today. If you have, hang on tight and live for Him.

“Let us hold tightly without wavering to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise.”

Hebrews 10:23 NLT

Our Father, thank-you for coming to us in your Son Jesus. Your love for us is amazing. Thank-you for hanging on tight to us by keeping your promises!
